Pon was the exclusive importer of Caterpillar in the Netherlands, and Pon Cat was the dealer shop window for that catalogue. I designed the site in 2011 while I was at eFocus.
Contractors do not browse SKU codes. They think in jobs and payload. The site had to start from the work, then get them to a machine, a quote, a rental or a service contact without sounding like a parts list.
A homepage for heavy work
The homepage had to carry the yellow iron and still feel like a tool. A 797 mining truck sets the scale, then earthmoving copy, product families and a side rail for your local Pon contact, service and finance.
Industries sit at the bottom so a miner and a road builder can enter through their own world. Pon also covered Denmark, Norway and Sweden, so the same frame had to work across those markets.
Start from the range
Once you leave the homepage you land in the range: dump trucks, excavators, loaders, compactors, all as simple icons. A product finder sits next to them if you already know the name.
The rest of the page is there to keep you moving. Stories, service, news and a map of industries, so you never drop back into a brochure.
Find your product
The finder is an essential part of the concept. You pick a job, a capacity and how the machine should move, tracks or wheels, then you get a short list with weight, horsepower and a request for quote.
Under that sit parts, the service centre and rental. Buying a Cat is only the start. Pon lives on the years after, and the page had to make that as easy as picking the truck.
The idea outlived the name
Late 2024 Pon Holdings agreed to sell its Caterpillar business, Pon Equipment and Pon Power, to the German Zeppelin Group. The deal closed in 2025. Zeppelin took over the Cat machines and power systems in the Netherlands and Norway. Pon Power became Zeppelin Power Systems, Pon Equipment now sits under Zeppelin Cat, and Pon itself went back to cars and bikes.
Years later, the dealer site still feels like this one. You still come in by the work you do, pick a family of machines and ask for a quote or service. The yellow logo changed. The way you find a Cat did not.
